RUN NUMBER

Place tab through loop fasten velcroPlease check that your run number is identical to the master number on the enclosed letter. If it is different please contact the Bupa Great North Run at info@greatrun.org.

Please also fill in all the personal details on the reverse of your run number, this will save you a job the night before your run. This year we have printed your name along the side of the number, and if you specified a medical condition on your entry, we have printed a red dot to assist our medical
team in case of emergency. Please DO NOT let anyone else run in your number as this could result in a misidentification in a medical emergency.

Baggage label
Your personal baggage label will be attached to the bottom of your run number. Please ensure that you complete your details on the label and attach this to your bag the night before the race. If you are not planning to use the baggage buses, please detach the label before you run.

Pasta Party
This year we have added your pasta party tickets to the bottom of your race number. Study pages 34 and 35 of the magazine for more information.

IPICO TIMING CHIP

This is your timing device which you must wear during the Bupa Great North Run. You should find enclosed your chip (personalised to you for this event only – do not exchange chips with anyone else), two plastic bobble tags to attach the chip to your shoe, and a return envelope (in the event that you
are unable to take part). The IpicoChip timing system will give you completely accurate timing. After the race, you will be able to access your ‘chip’ time via www.greatrun.org, which shows your personalised time from crossing the start line to crossing the finish line.

How to wear your IpicoChip
Your chip must be worn on your shoe – not your wrist – so that it can be triggered by the timing mats at the start and finish lines. It is easier to attach your Chip to the shoe whilst the shoe is not being worn. Pass both beaded ties under your laces. Then thread each end of a beaded tie through a hole in the Chip. Thread each pointed end of a tie through the other end of the tie. Pull both beaded ties until the Chip is firmly attached to your shoe. Do not thread your laces through the chip or use any other device such as cable ties to attach the chip to the shoe/laces. If for any reason you do not run then please return the Chip in the return envelope provided. Chips returned within 14 days of race day will be entered into a prize draw to win two free entries (excluding travel) and VIP hospitality into any Great Run event in 2011. Chips will be collected at the end of the race after you cross the finish line – look out for the collection points and follow the advice of the marshals. To remove your chip take hold of it and pull sharply: the beaded ties will break.
