Bupa Junior Great Winter Run

The Bupa Junior Great Winter Run takes place on the morning of Saturday 8 January 2011.

The 2.5km (approx) multi terrain course takes place in Holyrood Park, the same venue as the Bupa Great Winter Run and the Bupa Great Edinburgh International Cross Country which will take place later that day.

The event, which kick starts the 2011 Bupa Junior Great Run series is for youngsters aged 7 – 13 years. All runners receive an event t shirt with their race pack which also includes their race number and timing chip providing a completely accurate finishing time.

Once runners have crossed the finish line they will receive that all important medal as well as their finishers pack which includes lots of other great goodies.

The entry price for the Bupa Junior Great Winter Run is just £9.

Keep on running, Bupa Great Run will return to Edinburgh alter in 2011 with the Bupa Junior and Mini Great Edinburgh Run, the exact date is still to be confirmed. The Bupa Mini Great Edinburgh Run is for children aged 3 – 8 years and covers an approximate 1.5km course. The Bupa Junior Great Edinburgh Run is for young people aged 9 – 14 years covers an approximate 2.5km.

The charity's running team is called the Banana Army after their bright yellow shirts - and it's all about having fun and doing something really positive to beat blood cancers.

Leukaemia is the most common form of cancer in children. Thanks to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, nine out of ten children now survive the most common form of this cancer.
