TESCO GREAT SCHOOL RUN

The Tesco Great School Run campaign has now been completed for 2008 and further details about next years programme will be posted soon.

This year, over 3,000 primary schools, with 749,000 children registered to take part in their own fun run at their own school, across the UK. The Tesco Great School Run is an innovative programme that links education with physical activity.

A number of schools won the opportunity to receive a School Run Tour visit. Three teams of experts travelled their way around the country from May 16th to June 19th stopping at different schools. The tour team arrived with special vehicles packed full of fun training equipment, with each school enjoying lots of music, warm-ups, mini aerobic exercises and receiving special souvenirs of the day.

The response from schools and teachers has been fantastic!

To support the World Record attempt on the 20th June, two finale events were held at Sportcity Manchester and at Bellahuston Park Glasgow. Over 5,000 children joined in the fun runs at these two venues!

Colin Jackson and TV Presenter, Angellica Bell travelled around the country by Helicopter starting school run events before arriving at Sportcity to join in the fun activities. Olympic Athlete, Lee McConnell started the School Run at the Glasgow event.
